Beck. Never seen him. Had a bunch of Boston gift certificates, so I figured I’d use them and make a weekend of it.
Headed into town the day before and did some touristy things like
Get a hotel at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront.
Take a Super Duck Tour (our competition)
Visit the Institute of Contemporary Arts and see new exhibits by Barry McGee & Mary Reid Kelley
Smoke a cigar next to Boston Harbor
Eat lots of good food at Regina Pizzeria, Bova’s Bakery, The Daily Catch, 606 Congress, Jerry Remy’s & the Legal Test Kitchen
And try many different kinds of beer (and pretzels) at Harpoon’s new Beer Hall.
Then it was off to see Beck!

He started off slow with a few acoustic numbers – but kicked it up pretty quickly. Beck is a big fan of mixing his live songs with various covers, and we were treated to Tainted Love, Hot in Herre & Billie Jean. But the best one was when he mixed Think I’m in Love with Donna’s Summer’s I Feel Love.
Pretty minimal light show compared to most live artists these days, but I did love the spots he had running around the top of the tent – really lit the whole place up and looked great.
All in all – a very enjoyable show. I was glad he played so many songs I knew – and I would gladly see him again.
